Moscow Hotels should raise their quality standards
The quality standards of Moscow hotels are to be raised in the face of growing tourist activity. The number of visitors from abroad in 2005 amounted to 3.2 million people and is expected to rise to about 5 million by 2010.
This tendency is held back by the lack of quality hotels with reasonable prices, i.e. the price-quality ratio suffers, according to some experts. Offer in the 2- and 3-star hotels market section is practically non-existent.
According to the ruling “ On the general scheme of the location of hotels in Moscow before 2010”, 420 hotels with the total capacity of 165 thousand guests are to start working before the end of 2010, and by 2020 seven hundred more hotels with about 450-500 guestrooms are planned to be built.
Besides, in accordance with the Program of reconstructing multiple-building hotels, by 2010 it is intended to form a modern hospitality area in the North-Eastern part of the city, on the basis of the Altay, Tourist, Baikal, Ostankino, Vostok, Yaroslavskaya, and the Zolotoy Kolos hotels.
The plan presupposes, for example, building a multifunctional hotel complex with 2150 guestrooms and a large congress center on the spot where the Ostankino is now. Instead of the Zolotoy Kolos we will see another multifunctional hotel complex with 2750 guestrooms, which will also include a modern concert hall.
