"National Hotel" has been reconstructed
The complex reconstruction and room renovation of “National Hotel” has been completed which cost more than $ 10 million. Architects followed the most popular tendencies in the world hotel market: spaciousness and purposefulness of rooms, modern engineering solutions, enlarged bathrooms and cloakrooms, etc. During the reconstruction the number of rooms reduced from 216 to 206 due to joining single rooms into the rooms of “studio” category. “Studio” rooms are spacious single rooms conveniently divided by curtain into two parts: a bedroom and a living room. Some “Studios” face the Kremlin and have a superb panoramic view of the Manège square and the Kremlin architectural complex.
The design of the renovated rooms, among which there’re also some suites, has undergone significant changes: now they are lighter and brighter. All bathrooms have been enlarged. Now there are state-of-the-art Italian Jacuzzis with an increased set of options.
All rooms now have new furniture custom-made by an Italian factory. Its design corresponds with the historic interior of the hotel, reproducing the refinement and elegance of the late nineteenth century. The furniture sets vary by color of wooden framework from dark walnut to light textured Karelian birch. Suites “Classic”, “National” and “Presidential” gained some antiques from the hotel supplies. Hand-made vases and statuettes, lamps and wall luminaires, mirrors, picturesque masterpieces and even pianos are all of a museum value: they have never been exposed in the rooms before. The "National" real pride, the front staircase of the original design made of white marble with moulded gold-plated ornaments and metal banisters, has also been renovated.
All the hotel rooms are supplied with plasma panels and DVD-players; the hotel film collection, made specially for guests, contains Hollywood and Russian classics.
In the renovation there were involved designers, architects and historians. “National Hotel” is a federal historical and architectural monument. Due to its great historical value, every stage in the interior reconstruction was endorsed by the Moscow Committee on Historical Heritage.
“National Hotel” is already planning its second stage of reconstruction, which includes building of a multi-level underground parking lot for fifty cars, new fitness center ,and spa center on the underground floors. Instead of the existing fitness center on the seventh floor, there will be two Presidential suites with an area of 150 square meters each. The cost of the second stage of reconstruction is roughly estimated as $ 50 million dollars.
