The average room rate in Moscow has risen by one third this year
The price of a hotel room in Moscow has risen by one third on average this year, reaching 187,50 eur per night.
Research has shown that these figures go in line with the average rates in Western European hotels, whereas in other major cities of Eastern Europe the costs are much lower, with Prague, Warsaw, and Budapest at 101.40 eur, 81.24 eur, and 74.91 eur respectively.
London (204,47 eur) and Paris (199,38 eur) top the list of most expensive European cities with the highest profitability level per room. Milan is the third runner-up with ?178,18, followed by Moscow that boasts the highest profitability level in Eastern Europe with 133,75 euros. Saint Petersburg ranks eighth in the list with an average profitability level per room constituting 123,72 eur.
Growing demand for hotel rooms in Russia over the last two years is continuing to stimulate the investment market of the region. Last year the total volume of transactions amounted to 500 million euros, whereas in 2004 it was only 285 million.
