Developers are not interested in budget hotels construction
The Moscow Hotel Construction Plan for 2001 - 2010 may fail. According to the Moscow City Duma Deputy Igor Protopopov, developers lack enthusiasm to build three-star hotels, and it is understandable. "We need a set of measures intended to create incentives for developers and make construction of budget hotels commercially viable", - said I.Protopopov at the meeting of Economic and Business Activity Committee . - "Moscow suffers from the room deficit".
"The Plan of Economy Class Hotels Construction for the period of 2001 - 2010 will not be fulfilled. 1,500 rooms are commissioned in Moscow each year, 11,500 have been commissioned since 2001, and the Plan suggests to increase the number of hotel rooms to 180,000 by 2010". He says that "the city owns a big quantity of smaller hotels which need reconstruction".
