In March 2008 the best hotels in international hotel business were awardered the Five Star Diamond, the most prestigious award in the world hospitality business, by American Academy of Hospitality Sciences in Berlin.
American Academy of Hospitality started back in the 40s of the past century. Since then the Academy has been the most influential & authoritative body that rates the hotels & the way they function worldwide. It's opinion is highly valued, the Academy is very strict about selecting the nominees, considering the hotels' reputation, their operational efficiency, and mostly important - stability of high quality of customer services. Every year it sends it's auditors to the hotels that are nominated to receive the Five Star Diamond Award, who stay at the hotels as incognitos while actually checking them in more than 900 criterea & only then give their verdict.
"The National" hotel has been awarded with the Five Star Diamond Award for the 8th time, proving to be one of the elite hotels of the world.
The hotel's CEO has been awarded with the One of the Finest Hoteliers Worldwide award for the 3d time. Ever since the Academy has existed he has been the only representative from Russia who has been given such a high award, which is a good example of the success of the Russian management.
