Renovation of Hotel "Leningradskaya" in Moscow Complete
The Hotel "Leningradskaya" reopened under then new brand "Hilton Leningradskaya, after being transformed from a 3-star into a 5-star hotel. The renovation replaced the wiring and plumming and refurbished detail on facades and indoor mouldings. The quantity of rooms fell from 329 to 275, as the average floor space rose from 18 to 33 square meters. Three conference rooms, a fitness club, a swimming pool, spa-center, restaurant, and a basketball court, as well as a VIP-area were added.
The hotel offers standard rooms, luxury rooms, and apartment suites. Certain rooms, targeting especially descerning clientele, present a specific interiot design style. Each room comes equipped with climate-control, satellite television, and long-distance and international telephones. "The Leningradskaya" is the first Hilton hotel in Russia. The company plans to open 25 hotels accross Russia in the near future.
Hilton hotels were slated to appear in Moscow at the end of the 1990s. They had even reserved lots across central Moscow – on Neglinnaya, on Bolshaya Nikitskaya, and on Tverskaya Streets, but the investors pulled out at the last minute citing operational disagreements. Explanations of Hilton's "lack of success" in Russia usually mention an "uncompromising" operational philosophy in negotiations with hotel owners.
