 The Hotel Metropol was built in 1905, as a part of the great project by Savva Mamontov, who planned to construct a complex of a hotel, restaurants, exhibition halls, and a theater in the heart of Moscow. After the reconstruction in 1991, Metropol was recognized as a hotel of the highest category, and became Moscow's first hotel with international quality service standards

The exact number of rooms in the hotel is 369, whereof there are 44 singles, 162 standard rooms, 82 rooms of enhanced comfort, 32 semi-suites, 33 suites, 7 apartments, 1 executive suite and 2 president accommodations. There is also a VIP-floor with additional services. Some of the rooms are decorated with articles of antique, which were restored by the craftsmen of the Hermitage. The hotel windows overlook the Teatralny and Tverskoy prospects, the Lubyanka, the Manege and the Square of Revolution. Some of the rooms face the inner patio.
