.
In the middle of the 1950's the process of building of so called 'hotels for village workers' was launched. 'Village workers' or leading kolkhozniks (collective farmers) started coming to Moscow to attend the first post-war VDNH's (All-Union Exhibitions of Achievemnts in National Economy and Farming) to share experience and demonstrate achievemnts. For this purpose a number of hotels was built on the terrytory adjacent to the All-Union Exhibition Center (nowadays the VVTs - the All-Russia Exhibition Center).
The two-building hotel Zarya built in 1956 was one of those. In Soviet times not only kolkhoz (collective farm) and sovkhoz (state farm) representatives stayed there but as well ordinary citizens who came to have a look at the capital and visit VDNH. The 1980 Olympic Games left their trail there as well: maintenance staff were staying in the hotel during the Olympics. In the 1990's thrifty and sent on an assignment tourists stayed in the hotel. In the course of time the buildings of the hotel became dilapidated and could have been pulled down, but the hotel was fortunate enough due to its new owner the closed joint-stock company Maxima Hotels that devided the hotel Zarya into two separate hotels.
Thus in 2003 one of the buildings of the hotel Zarya became the hotel Irbis. The hotel was reconstructed, the European repairs and change of furniture took place. Nowadays the hotel receives guests and participants of exhibitions that are held in the VVTs, in Sokolniki and other exhibition centers of the capital. The Irbis Hotel appeared in 2003. Originally it was one of the "Zarya" buildings. Completely renovated and furnished in conformity with the European standards, it soon became a favorable meeting place for the guests and participants of exhibitions held on the territory of the All Russia Exhibition Center, in Sokolniki and other exhibition complexes of the capital.
